I am a self taught painter concentrating mainly on portrait and figurative paintings in oil. Most of the paintings come from my imagination, inspired by what it is to be human. I am an expressive painter and try to capture, through the gaze of an individual, the complex emotions that run through us all.
Use of bright colour and a love of texture are applied to enhance the effect. I paint quickly using both brush and pallet knife, often completing a painting in one sitting to maintain the energy and focus on the subject matter.
The process and style of painting of Chaim Soutine, Kyffin Williams and Francis Bacon are a continuous source of inspiration to me.
I am a member of Helfa Gelf and have exhibited at the Royal Cambrian Academy of Art (2018 (selectors award winner), 2019), MOMA Machynlleth (2018), Oriel Brondanw (2018), Llangollen Museum (2017, 2018) and the Carriageworks, Denbigh (2018)
