David Pollock

“I have been painting now for about 25 years. I started with watercolour and began using oil paints when I enrolled on a fine art degree course at Glyndwr University. I completed my degree and went on to do an M.A. as a part time student whilst working full time in a factory.

I left my job as a machine operator, due to redundancy, and now work part time as a support worker. This gives me the opportunity to travel round the North Wales coast and mountains looking for interesting things to paint. It is the ruggedness, dramatic light and my love of the natural world which inspire me to paint these places.

Although most of my work is completed in the studio, I am becoming increasingly interested in the spontaneous and natural results I get from painting outdoors. This is something I hope to do more of and hopefully combine it with my studio work to make paintings with more energy and vitality.”
